Early Poster Designs

  • draft 1

The earliest idea was to use what design calls “the grid” to format and align text and imagery.

  • Draft 2

Imagery/iconography represented the aesthetic and kind of profile that MIT SOLVE was about.

  • Draft 3

Draft 3 was a combination of adding imagery and subtlety implementing the grid system into the poster.

My final design would have to eventually incorporate this imagery without making it seem unimportant to the overall design.

If I had more time, I think I would be more careful about text alignment. I feel as if the top text isn’t aligned properly with the bottom text, and the bottom text could use different ways of spacing. And while it seemed like a good idea at the time to have the “L” in "solvers” elongated and serve as a border, maybe it wasn’t a necessary move. I also don’t regret using black as a background instead of white, because stylistically it’s more intriguing to me as an individual and designer. However, if I had more time, I’d experiment with a white background for the sake of not using too much black ink when printing.
